Just Say Yes 2: Smokin', Snortin', Shootin', Pukin'

"Just Say Yes 2" was the release that finally began to bring Toilet Bowl Records some attention. Though somewhat lacking in production value compared to "Give Up the Booty," it was a drastic improvement over "Just Say Yes." It demonstrated that the songwriting was getting more serious and creative, despite the comical topics.

This CD contained the second recording of "Smoking Weed," which was this time recorded with live instruments and had a stlye and melody quite distinct from the pre-programmed "ska" beat from the Yamaha keyboard, since at this point it had also been through a good deal of live performances with tommyROCK's band of the time, the Stank.

Standout tracks include a live recording of the Stank (tommyROCk & Jeff Post) performing "I Want Crack" acoustic, which took the original in a new direction but came full circle back to the obnoxious crack-head-esque screaming that we love so much.

Other sweet selections include "Special Kay Come and See Me Today," a punk-ska attempt by tommyROCK, "Cocaine's the Bomb" by the Toilet Bowl Family, and still tommyROCK-fan-favorite "Another Bag o' Shrooms," which can be found remastered on "Is He On Drugs? the best of tommyROCK 1999-2004."

"Just Say Yes 2" was recorded using the same ghetto-rigged methods of the last two releases, but clearly the songwriting, performance, production quality, and diversity in sounds was drawing some attention at this point. This was the most popular of the 3 1999 tommyROCK releases and undoubtedly one that guided the future direction of him as an artist. This compilation is out of print and probably will stay that way due to overall quality and permissions issues with certain tracks, so enjoy the mp3s while you can get 'em, and get your copy of "Is He On Drugs?"!!!
